I’m absolutely disgusted by how my 85-year-old father and his 90-year-old mate were treated after driving 12 hours and stopping for the night. He requested two beds when booking, and I called to confirm and pay. I was told that was all good. But when they arrived, there was only one small bed. The person at the front desk didn’t care at all. My father has just been through major medical issues, and he ended up sleeping in the car. When I called to ask what had happened, I was brushed off and told there’d been a misunderstanding. Not bloody good enough.

We visited with our two Border Collies, and the pet-friendly room was roomy enough for all four of us. It was nicely presented and clean, and management were obliging and friendly. I think going off peak helped, as peak touring season gets pretty full on. The park is quite big, flat and easy to get around, and there’s an enclosed off-leash area for dogs. It was only about one-third occupied during our stay, so things felt relaxed. If you enjoy chatting and meeting people at peak season, you’ll probably find plenty of that here. The location is the downside, about 10 minutes from town, though there’s a Roadhouse roughly five minutes’ walk away for little essentials.

The sites are spacious, and the unpowered ones have water hookup. The pool is great for families.

We had a van site rather than a cabin, so I can’t comment on the cabins. The place was clean and tidy, and the staff were friendly. It’s on the Bruce HWY, so there’s some traffic noise during the day, but it was quiet at night and easy to sleep. The pool was very nice too.
