Ocean Breeze Apartments

The ground floor room had a broken screen door, rusty stove, and a strong cigarette smell throughout. There were cockroaches in the apartment, and the couch was heavily stained and covered with a duvet, which raised hygiene concerns. Noise that sounded like furniture being moved continued from the afternoon into the early morning, making it very hard to rest. The property is well below acceptable standards, outdated and poorly maintained, with little care apparent in the buildings or grounds.

The bathroom fixtures were in poor condition and need renovating. I also wouldn't recommend the place because the stair and balcony balustrades are below Australian standards and seem like an accident waiting to happen. The bunk beds in one room are lightweight, and aren't suitable for adults to climb in and out of, even with someone holding them to stop them tipping over.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and sweet, and even sorted out check-in smoothly over the phone. It was also a friendly place, with neighbors greeting me and offering a beer. The spot is clean and spacious, close enough to walk to the beaches and only a few kilometres from the city centre. Excellent value for money. I'd absolutely stay here again when I'm in Bowen.

The owner was very nice, and the area was very quiet. But the unit was dirty and run down, and the pool was green. At the price she charges, she should renovate before renting it out.
