RACV Cape Schanck Resort

The villa itself was comfortable for me, my partner and our 2-year-old, and we enjoyed getting away. Still, with cold weather I'd choose the main hotel next time. Getting to the pool, restaurants and other facilities from the golf villas meant driving back and forth, which was especially frustrating because it rained the whole time. Room service was listed, but they wouldn't deliver to the villas, so we had to drive up and collect our food. The resort grounds were beautifully kept, the main areas and pool were lovely, and the staff were wonderful. The food was okay, and the atmosphere felt relaxing. The villa bathrooms stayed freezing even with the bedroom heaters turned up. The road to the villas had very little lighting, so the drive back at night felt eerie. Also, the front doors open just by pulling down the handle. Our 2-year-old worked that out fast, which worried us from a safety point of view.

The birthday dinner at Samphire Restaurant was a highlight. We couldn't have the dessert, but the management brought out a plate decorated with a birthday message for my daughter, which made it special. Charles, our waiter that evening, was friendly and thoughtful. Breakfast at Cape Schanck Resort had such a wide selection that it was hard to try everything. The pastries could be better for anyone with a sweet tooth, though that's a minor point. The staff were easygoing and happy to accommodate breakfast requests, and Shane even entertained my granddaughter with his juggling while doing a great job. We were there as a family to celebrate my daughter's birthday, and the spacious villa made it a rewarding stay. It had three bedrooms, each with an attached bathroom. Everything was very clean, with extra blankets and pillows available.

The ocean view from our room and the resort grounds were fantastic. We had a smooth check-in, and the young woman who helped us, possibly a new team member, was polished, well-spoken and professional. The bar staff were friendly and attentive without being pushy. It was our first time at this location, though we'd stayed at the Hobart one before, and RACV's usual high standards were clear. The staff were great, the food very good, and the pool and gym exceeded what I expected. The wine list was mind-blowing, with more than what was printed. We didn't try the spa or golf course this time, but plan to next visit. Very happy to recommend the resort.

Tas made us feel special from the moment we arrived, and the bar staff were lovely too. We had a great buffet breakfast and dinner at the resort on both nights. My partner loved playing the golf course, and the pool and spa were lovely. The bed was so comfortable. We stayed two nights in an ocean view room, and I came away feeling like I'd been on holiday for a week. So relaxing, and we'd absolutely come back.
