My partner has stayed at the hotel before for golf trips and says it’s good pub accommodation. It’s nice and clean, and we had good service. The pizzas are really yummy, with a great wood-fired flavor. They’ve got the base just right, which makes all the difference.

The accommodation is clean, in a prime location, and great. I’d stay there again, five stars for that. The low rating is for the wood-fired pizza restaurant. The pizza was awful, dry, short on sauce and toppings, and like cardboard. The staff were loud and rowdy, and didn’t take kindly to a customer complaint. It was possibly the worst pizza I’ve ever eaten, almost inedible.

We had great rooms for our golf weekend, but staff weren’t communicating with each other, and some of us had to switch rooms for the second night. I’d booked everything more than seven months ahead. Then at 11pm on Friday, they abruptly closed the bar even though 14 of us were still there. The next night we went up the road to the Royal Hotel, which was pumping.

The barman could use some guidance on customer service. I stopped in for a steak after work on Sunday night (14 Sep 25) and waited 10 minutes at the front bar while other people were served out of order. When I brought it up, he insulted me instead of being courteous, and even said he didn’t have to serve me. I’m not sure why, since it was my first beer and I was dressed well. I strongly suggest the pub owner counsel him.
