Grand Pacific Hotel and Apartments

We had a fantastic meal in the newly refurbished dining room at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Lorne. The food was delicious and the service exceptional. The décor is high quality and suits the hotel's original era beautifully. The owner was warm and friendly, and shared fascinating details about the hotel's history. The location is unbeatable too. Highly recommend.

Great views, friendly service, and really delicious food that looked lovely too. We left full and happy. My only criticism: we ordered three steaks medium rare, but they were all different cuts and shapes, so the thickest one came out quite rare.

The toilets were very clean, though there wasn’t much soap, and the location is nice. Getting around was another matter: Graham struggled with the step at the entrance and the narrow route to the table with his walker. Parking on the hill was difficult, and the door kept closing on me, nearly squashing me. There were lots of bugs too. The food was mixed. Graham’s fish was nice, but not much better than the chippy down the road. My chicken parma was okay, though a little cold, and the lettuce mix felt rough. The pasta we shared was unpleasant, undercooked and not well flavoured. I should’ve chosen arancini instead. The place also had a similar feel to “the shiny,” a movie I watched recently. On the way out, a woman with a plate in her hair and glasses stopped in the walkway with an iPad, and I nearly tripped over her. Then I saw her roll her eyes. I didn’t find her very friendly.

We keep coming back, and the recent renovations have given the place a fresh, clean, vibrant feel. The views are perfect, and the atmosphere is great. The food and cocktails are hard to fault, and the waitresses are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend it, and we’ll be back again.
