Alpine Sports Lodge

I found everything I needed for a workout and some stretching, and there was a good soundtrack playing. It’s a well set up, mid-sized gym, with enough room for six to eight of us to train comfortably at once. Paying for a casual visit was easy. I couldn’t spot the water, but a PT directed me to the bubbler outside. I’ll be back.

We knew we’d booked budget accommodation, but the lack of hygiene was shocking. The linen was dirty, nothing looked vacuumed, and even basic things like tea towels and sponges weren’t clean. The fridges leaked and weren’t cold, the microwave was crusted with burnt food, the dishwasher didn’t work, and the bathroom fans were coated in thick dust. We also saw one group leave and another arrive without the room being cleaned in between. 🤮

It’s the cheapest accommodation in Bright, though you may have to share a room. You can bring food and cook, or walk about 10 minutes into town.

The location and set-up are great, and James was friendly and flexible on the phone when we booked and later changed our dates. But when we arrived, the bathroom, showers, toilet, kitchen and dining tables were dirty and unhygienic. A couple of doors kept jamming, and we had to use a knife to open them. One time, a scared seven-year-old was left crying on the other side.
