Avani Living Queen’s Wharf Residences

The pool was advertised as a key feature and shown in working order, but it wasn't available until March 8th. It had been decommissioned from the middle of Feb 2026, which was the first major lie the "owners" told us. After I raised the issue, I was locked out and couldn't access my room or the vital diabetic insulin stored in the fridge. This is now a federal offense. Thank goodness for the police and ambulance. Hopefully I can get my belongings, medication, and car keys back this morning.

Avani is right in the middle of everything, with public transport and great places to eat only a few minutes' walk away. My room was modern, bright, and spotlessly clean, and the view was spectacular and magnificent. I had a very good stay and highly recommend it for a stylish, comfortable visit.

We couldn't make it to the theatre because the parking instructions hadn't been given to us beforehand, and sorting out the car park was a real debacle. Leaving was just as difficult. We had to call someone to show us the way out. We've used car parks around the world and never had an experience like this. It wasted time and caused too much stress for the money, so we won't stay there again. We did make clear that the staff were helpful. The view was fantastic, but the parking and drop-off spoiled the stay.

The room was nicely furnished and the views were lovely. We had no reason to deal with staff until the third night, when we returned and realised we'd left the lift-access key inside the apartment. We still had the apartment door key. It seemed like a simple problem to sort out, but the staff member on duty, Darpan, made the whole thing difficult and humiliating. He kept saying he “would not” let us go up, not that he couldn't. He first said he had a key for our floor but refused to use it, then changed his account and said he couldn't help at all. When I asked for a manager, he falsely said he was the manager, then handed me a phone with someone he identified as his manager. That person wouldn't give their name or credentials, was even ruder, and eventually yelled at us. Their only proposed solution was to call the police. We felt we had no choice. On the first call, the police officer literally asked, “Surely you can just get him to let you up?” We were just as bewildered. Even when police spoke to Darpan, he lied about what had happened to make himself look good and still wouldn't help. We eventually sent someone from our group to the police station in person. The officer there was outraged on our behalf and was preparing to send someone to the building. By sheer luck, we managed to call someone staying on our floor and persuade them to come down and escort us, so police didn't need to intervene physically. It was an exhausting, unnecessary ordeal, marked by arrogance and dishonesty I struggle to understand. Darpan is the worst customer service employee I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. His behaviour was verbally abusive, unprofessional, antagonistic, dishonest, and obstructive when the situation called for basic common sense and human decency. That interaction completely overshadowed the positive parts of the stay. I strongly urge management to review staff conduct and training. What we experienced was completely unacceptable.
