Greenslopes Motor Inn

I’ve stayed here regularly for years, so it’s sad to leave such a low rating. The restaurant used to be a draw, but it’s no longer operating. This visit was a disappointment, and I won’t be back. I checked in this afternoon during the current Queensland heatwave and was given a room in full western sun. The air conditioner was noisy and barely worked. There was no WiFi, and when I called for help the response was uncaring. Plenty of car parks were empty, but despite several requests I was firmly refused a cooler room. They couldn’t fix the WiFi either. I almost never leave negative reviews, but this was the last time.

The rooms are large and kept clean, with a basic setup that has what you need for a quick stay. They’re private, and you can opt out of cleaning. The rooms are smoke-free, with an easy-opening window for fresh air. It’s an easy commute to the city, Carindale and Mount Gravatt. Staff are laid-back and leave you alone, and rebooking is simple. They accept cash if there’s availability. I wouldn’t recommend it for disabled guests: the stairs from the car park are difficult to manage, especially with a lot of luggage. Pack light, though perhaps staff can help if wheelchair access is needed.

Good value for the price and location. We were in town for a surgeon’s appointment at the nearby private hospital. The room was spotless and the bed comfortable, though dated.

Our unit had comfortable beds and a new bathroom, and we enjoyed staying here. The on-site restaurant was very nice, and the motel is handy to everything. Renovations are underway.
