Kingsford Riverside Inn

The facilities advertised online didn’t match what we found, and the photos and descriptions felt misleading. For what we paid, the value was shockingly poor. The owner was extremely arrogant and full of ego. At Kingsford Riverside Inn, the room was outdated, poorly maintained and not acceptably clean. Hygiene seemed like an afterthought, and the room’s condition made the stay very uncomfortable. The motel falls short on cleanliness, professionalism and basic hospitality. I won’t return, and I’d strongly advise others to find somewhere else nearby.

Staff were friendly and helpful, and the room had everything else we needed. I was glad to find a pet-friendly option, though the only available room was downstairs in the garage. On-site parking is very limited, and there’s no street parking outside. The private toilet and shower were useful, but the arrangement was very strange. Other rooms share bathrooms. The room smelled as if previous guests’ pets had urinated somewhere. The curtains dragged on the floor, and the single bed needs replacing. Beds raised off the ground would be better. The shower head needs fixing because barely any water comes out, and the TV reception needs a better connection. There’s room for improvement.

The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and it was pretty quiet around there. We had a small bar fridge and a tap in the room, and the showers had good heat and pressure. The staff were lovely when we checked in, and the location worked well for us. You get what you pay for, though. The bathroom ceiling had mold, and the place looked quite old and a little uncared for. Still, it suited us fine.

The location was convenient, the service was great, and the family room felt cosy without being cramped. Beds were clean and comfortable. It’s a basic, fairly priced hotel, so some reviews seem a bit whiny for what it costs. The carpet was somewhat dirty, but nothing worth fretting over. There was a nasty smell from the blanket cupboard, and sharing a bathroom with one floor was okay, though I can see it becoming irritating. We didn’t get staph infections or see cockroaches, and our sheets weren’t stained. Nothing flashy, but fair for the price.
