Nightcap at Camp Hill Hotel

The staff are friendly and the meals are great. The main drawback is having to climb 24 steps whenever you need to eat or go anywhere. They should provide towels in the rooms instead of just a shower mat.

One nice extra is the free water. Otherwise, the tiny rooms are behind a pub and liquor shop, with shared toilets and showers that needed a proper clean when I visited. There was no body wash, and obnoxious drunk people outside were hard to avoid.

The restaurant was excellent, with a great steak and cold beer, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Everything was very clean too. We had an excellent stay and will be back, so do yourself a favour and go there.

The friendly, attentive reception team handled a problem with our first room quickly. They moved us to another room and refunded the first night, which I appreciated. The complimentary drinks were a nice touch, but too many other problems got in the way of recommending Nightcap Brisbane. The rooms have poor sound insulation, so you can hear everything. The smart TV didn’t work in either room. Housekeeping staff spoke loudly in the corridors early in the morning despite our “Do not disturb” sign. Our crockery apparently got mixed up with the hotel’s, leaving us with none until we went to ask reception. The shared bathroom wasn’t clean enough. Only one of the three toilets worked, and there was barely any hot water in the men’s bath. At the bar, a young staff member was unpleasant when I asked for my free drink: she avoided eye contact, giggled with a colleague while serving me, and seemed mocking. Cleanliness, working equipment, and quiet should take priority over extras like free drinks.
