Nightelier Mitchelton The Brook

The food was good when it arrived, and the waitstaff were trying hard, but hosting our engagement party at The Brook was stressful. We had about 100 guests last Saturday and spent $6.5k, after planning it for six months. I wouldn’t recommend booking an event here, and have already told family and friends who were considering it to go elsewhere. At 4:30pm, when we came to set up, the booked area was a mess: dirty tables, old glasses and plates with half-eaten food. People were sitting in the space because it hadn’t been cordoned off. Staff said they didn’t know a function was scheduled, so we cleaned and tidied up while they tried to get organized. I spoke to the event manager, Sammy, who seemed largely unbothered and pointed to how busy lunch had been. That felt like a poor excuse. Things stayed disorganized during the party. Food service was badly timed: just one tray of 20 sliders came out for 100 people, and they were still circulating at 8:30pm. The chips meant to come with them arrived alongside the cake instead. I also had to chase staff because our cake missed its agreed time. Tables weren’t cleared, so used napkins and cups piled up. We had fun in the end, but it wasn’t relaxing, and I felt I had to manage the space myself.

A few bats lived in the tree, and things kept falling from it, which got a little annoying. Still, it’s a picturesque tree and clearly makes a good prop for plenty of Instagram posts. The place is nice for a meal and a beer, with friendly staff. The pork ribs were succulent, the chips cooked well, and the beer tasty. A great place to visit.

Nataly made breakfast at The Brook in Mitchelton especially enjoyable for my son and me. She was welcoming and professional, stayed attentive, and engaged warmly with everyone. Her smile and upbeat manner made the morning feel relaxed. Service like that really makes a difference. Highly recommend The Brook, and especially Nataly. She’s a joy and a real asset to the restaurant.

Nataly and Harrison gave us great service. One meal arrived 45 minutes late with the group, and another wasn’t cooked well, but the problem was fixed promptly and the table service was amazing. Nataly was also great to deal with at the ice cream area.
