Laguna Apartment

Living on the Ann St side means the sun blazes in like an oven. A reflective sheet might help keep things cool, though ideally I'd live somewhere decent instead. The building is pretty, but poorly built and even worse managed. Everything feels like it was done by the lowest bidder. The lifts break down every three months and take at least three weeks to fix, so get used to waiting. It used to be manageable, but after the real estate changed, rents went up 40%. The location isn't worth it. Grenfell Tower had better build quality.

Edit: I keep getting likes years after posting, so I thought I'd share what happened. The building managers tried to take my entire bond for no reason. The matter went to the Tribunal, where they lost and were awarded nothing. I got my whole bond back. The Member even said that, if he had been authorised to make a costs order against the managers, he would have. They're absolute scum of the earth. I would never recommend renting an apartment here. The building managers treated tenants with a level of contempt I hadn't experienced in years of renting.

Edit: People are still getting trapped in this hell building, so here's what happened during the 2022 floods. The lifts broke, and management gave us no access or communication. I emailed the building owner about immediate access and a way out. He wrote back telling me to jump off the balcony and swim. Residents made our own way in and out through the fire stairwells, despite building management threatening eviction. We were threatened with homelessness while dealing with devastating floods, and people walked 19 flights of stairs to deliver life-saving medicine and groceries to residents who couldn't manage it themselves. That's all you need to know to never live here. I wouldn't live there again to save my life. Stay away and save yourself the trouble.

I lived here for over three years. Building managers sent passive-aggressive emails, and entered my apartment without consent, leaving me with no privacy. On the 19 floors, we were always using one lift because the other would randomly drop between levels and lock you in. People also parked in my paid spot, which apparently wasn't the managers' issue. If you can run, do. Put your running shoes on and run.
