My stay was repeatedly disrupted by cleanliness and maintenance problems, and I had to change rooms twice. In the third room the air conditioning wouldn't cool properly, so I had to sleep with the balcony door open. I also asked for the ensuite connected to the second bedroom to be unlocked, but was told that wasn't possible. When I went to shower in the second room at about 9pm, its blocked bathroom drains caused the room to flood. I called the night staff member and was moved again. In the first room, there was rubbish still in the bin and debris beside the bed. Looking underneath, I found a used condom. I returned to reception and they moved me to another room. The whole experience fell well below acceptable hotel standards.

The location was perfect, and the kitchen and bathroom facilities worked well, but this unit was functional rather than luxurious. We rented it on the 31st floor through booking.com under the name “Brisbane Luxury CBD Apartment.” It was advertised with a balcony, hot tub and private pool, but none of those were there, which was very misleading. It wasn't completely clean, the furniture was marked, and the lounge suite was ripped, worn and needed repair or replacement. There was only one teabag as well.

The location was the only good part. Our one-bedroom apartment was awkward, with no ensuite, so using the bathroom meant walking to the other side of the apartment. The view looked onto a parking garage, and the bathroom was mouldy. Everything felt old, including the dirty couch. Very disappointing.

The apartment on the 30th floor was awful, and nobody responded to the concerns I raised. The bedsheets were clean, but the rest seemed not to have been cleaned or maintained for a long time. Floors and bathrooms were filthy, carpets and rugs were stained, and there was grease and grime on everything. The windows had handprints and other splatters, the sills were dirty, and the sliding door tracks were full of dust and grot. There were dirty smears and handprints on the walls, chipped paint and skirtings, and light switches that were almost pushed in. The bedroom door was hard to open, and the handheld vacuum was choked full. I even found a two-litre Sprite bottle under the bed. The dining chairs were falling apart, and one collapsed when my elderly grandfather sat on it. The dryer face fell off while it was running. We had to buy four folding chairs so we could sit at the table. The hallways smelled putrid from rubbish, and machinery noise from major road works outside went on 24/7, so we couldn't sleep at night. At the start of the stay, I reported the problems and sent the photos they requested. We were told the photos would be reviewed to decide whether a cleaner needed to attend, and that the owners would be told about the unsafe furniture. After several follow-ups and requests, we heard nothing about either cleaning or safe seating. This was certainly not a “Stylish Retreat with Resort Amenities.”

The accommodation is spacious and apartment-style, right in the heart of the city. It's a decent hotel, except the Asian man at reception was not attentive or helpful. When I asked for help because the air conditioning wasn't working, he said he couldn't do anything. They should sack him.
