Toowong Central Motel Apartments

I paid over $300 for the night, but both beds had dirty sheets. The single bed sloped to one side, so I ended up on the couch, and the pillows smelled of stale sweat. There was only enough coffee for one cup.

The rooms are a little dated, but they have what you need for a short or medium stay, and check-in was simple. I was even able to arrive early, thanks. The coffee and tea were better than at a five-star hotel. Shops, restaurants, the ferry, bus, and train are all close by.

The room was dusty, and there were mold stains on the bathroom walls. We had booked a family studio for four for one night, then a twin studio for me to stay on alone. When our flight was cancelled, I emailed to move the booking by a day so the family room would be available for the first night. They confirmed the change, but we arrived to find only three beds. Reception was closed, and by phone I was told to use the sofa bed, whose frame was broken and unusable. My sons had to share a bed, and I was still charged for all the nights in the original booking. A very poor experience.

The staff were pleasant and willing to help, and when we reported a small leak at the sink washer, it was fixed the next morning. The room was simple, clean, and comfortable, with cooking facilities and a small fridge; daily servicing was available. You can hear traffic from the road in Toowong, but we found it acceptable. Sliding the glass door shut cut it out when we wanted quiet. Cafes, restaurants, pubs, shopping centres, Toowong Village, and the train station are within easy walking distance. The pool and BBQ area were a nice break from the room and city routine.
