The room was neat and clean, though a little outdated, and we had a great night out in the end. But after the way the check-in, drinks, breakfast, and checkout went, I’d spend my money elsewhere. Service was subpar, management poor, and everything else average. My husband and I rarely get a night out, so we planned the evening carefully. The Sebel had even messaged the day before to ask when we’d arrive. At first we were told our room needed an inspection and it would be about 10 minutes. We moved the car to the parking space and checked again, then waited on the couches. After 10 minutes, another staff member said it would be 10-15 minutes. At 2:45pm, a third person still said 10-15 minutes, so we pointed out we’d already waited 45 minutes and had plans. They kindly upgraded us and gave us drink vouchers for the trouble. We’d planned to have a drink or two before dinner. Downstairs, they said the cocktail menu was being updated but they could make cocktails with the vouchers. Then they asked which cocktail we wanted, and when I said fruit tingle, they said they didn’t know what that was. I chose moscato instead, only to be told it wasn’t covered and just a couple of items were. After we got our drink, they asked for the voucher number, then three minutes later asked for our Accor status level and card number. We’d had enough and went out for the night, which was amazing. The air-conditioning wouldn’t seem to go below 24, but otherwise the room was fine. We had a small Cadbury chocolate and a three-pack of Ferrero Roche's because the room cost sheet listed them at a reasonable $4.50 each. At breakfast, the table across from us was given the wrong meal twice, and one of those was ours. Then at checkout they tried to charge us $14 for the chocolates.

From the moment I walked in, the citrus scent made me feel looked after. The towels, bedding, and kitchenware were spotless and well maintained, parking was easy with plenty of spaces, and the staff provided outstanding service. Mr Chen’s thoughtfulness and attention to detail stood out, though I’m not sure what his exact position is. The hotel was perfect for location and cleanliness too. I’d happily stay again and highly recommend it.

The pool and gym were shut for renovations, and nobody told us when we booked. The air-conditioning in our room also didn’t work properly. The staff were courteous and very helpful, though, and the location was good with a really nice bar.

The staff I met were all friendly and smiley, and the room was quiet with a comfy bed. I didn’t hear other guests coming back late or leaving early. The little pastries and complimentary water were lovely, and the snack selection was on point. I only wish I’d spotted the noodles at 1am! I had a function from noon into the evening and expected to leave my bags with the concierge and check in later. My room was ready early, and I was surprised with an upgrade. It was easy to get to, parking was good and reasonably priced, and the location was central. One of my best hotel experiences in Brisbane.

The staff were lovely and easy to deal with, The Croft restaurant on site had delicious food and amazing staff, and the pool was great, especially the small heated pool for our toddler. The location was amazing for shopping, river foot bridges, and the botanical gardens. The rooms are spacious, though tired. We had an interconnecting room, a two-bedroom apartment. The first room needed a proper clean: there was dust around the skirtings, TV cabinet, and surfaces, and it looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned in months. With a toddler who gets into every nook and cranny, I asked reception to send cleaners back. They only did a couple of spots, so I raised it again and they returned. We still weren’t happy with the cleanliness for the rate we paid, so they moved us. The new room was much cleaner, but the air-con in the main room didn’t work properly and it was far too hot with 30-degree weather outside. I didn’t mention it because we’d already been moved and didn’t want to move again. Given the price and cleanliness, I wouldn’t stay again. I’ve stayed at many Sebel’s before, and these rooms weren’t up to scratch.
