Breezes Apartments

A car is needed to get around, and the beach takes a good walk through the bush to reach. The apartments are spacious and have everything you need. We enjoyed a morning swim there, then cooled off in the pool when we got back. A lovely place to slow down.

The shower was cold both times we tried it, even though the sink water was boiling on the second day. Someone also seemed to have entered the apartment while we were out for dinner. I had put something behind the door to check whether anyone came in. We were there for two nights as a surprise from my girlfriend. At first the place looked good, with a pool, BBQ, parking and a fully equipped kitchen with an oven. But we were told not to wash or clean our car, and not to leave dust in the car park. On our last day, the caretaker also told me to stop installing my new awning because the owner didn't approve. We didn't use the pool or BBQ after that, worried we'd be charged for something, especially after reading reviews about cleaning. At $285 for two nights, it felt like a rip-off. The place was rude, poor quality, stressful and not relaxing. I won't come back.

The rooms were messy when we arrived, with old bathrooms, and we had to use our own blankets because the bedding was so bad. We even took the sheets off the bed in case they were reused for the next guests. We have photos from before and after, and plan to take the matter further. They said to leave the place in the same state it was in when we arrived. I suspect they may only be cleaning the benches and floors because of covid-19. On top of that, they charged $300 for cleaning, even though we left the room messy too. We're trying to negotiate that now. We also got pestering SMS messages about moving the car half a metre forward. The staff were really polite, but that doesn't make up for the state of the rooms or the cleaning charge. We've stayed in nine hotels in Broome and at least ten a year, and this ruined the feel of Broome for us. We look forward to coming back every few months, but won't stay here again. Very disappointed with how it was handled.

We were left with very poor transport options, with no buses or taxis around, so I don't understand the four- or five-star reviews. The shower head is two metres up, meaning your hair gets wet before the rest of you.
