Discovery Parks - Broome

This is the best place we've stayed in the Kimberley, and we've already planned to return. We've tried both the beachfront sites and a cabin. The facilities are the cleanest, and the service is great. Town Beach is ideally located, and the markets and Matsos are an easy walk away. There's also a good water park nearby for visiting grandchildren. As anywhere, keep your belongings secure. The park managers do provide warnings about this.

We got lucky with a waterfront site, and the water was incredible, both its colour and temperature. The pool was very clean and well looked after. There's a pizza wagon on Saturday evenings, which I'd highly recommend. Shops are only 6 km away.

We booked three nights at a beachfront site and were upgraded to one with an ensuite. The view of the brilliant turquoise water was lovely, with just a strip of grass between us and the beach. Car trouble meant we needed another three nights, but our original site wasn't free, so we moved two spots along. The new spot had no ensuite, which wasn't an issue since our caravan has its own shower and toilet. We were there close to the end of the season, so the park wasn't packed. It's one of the best located caravan parks we've stayed at.

We were there for four weeks and had been promised a shady spot because of the length of our stay. When we arrived, our site had no shade, and after a lot of discussion with a rude receptionist, we were eventually moved to a shady one. Then people started stealing things during the night and early morning. My partner and I, both early risers, chased them out of the park many times. They were even breaking into cars whose owners were sure they'd locked them. The park clearly knows this happens because they send daily texts reminding guests to secure their valuables. Security was dismal. All we saw were two cameras by the camp kitchen. Never again.
