Eco Beach Wilderness Retreat

The natural setting was stunning, and the staff were really friendly. I first saw Eco Beach Resort more than 20 years ago, when it had just been built, and promised myself I'd stay there one day. I finally did, and wasn't disappointed. We booked two nights in an Ocean Front Villa, though we should have stayed longer. I had a great one hour massage, and the Wagyu steak at dinner was cooked perfectly.

For $50, the resort day pass let us use the facilities and have lunch, and it was the best $50 we spent in Broome. We relaxed in a hammock by the beach, cooled off in the beautiful infinity pool and had a lovely lunch. The views were spectacular, the staff friendly, and the weather was great too.

The cabins, food and setting were all fabulous, but dinner was let down by one self-centred staff member. We arrived around 6 pm after a tiring five days away, hoping to relax in the quiet. A lovely young woman with double braids brought water straight away, but our drinks order with the male waiter took over 30 minutes to arrive. He talked loudly about himself at most of the tables, which spoiled the peaceful atmosphere. Our second drinks and dessert were slow too, even though there were only five or six tables occupied. We skipped breakfast because we didn't want that spectacular view drowned out by the same behaviour. Wait staff in a place like this should be more professional and pay attention to the room and what guests need.

The kitchen crew deserve a shout-out for an incredible menu. I came with no expectations, but every plate was outstanding and you could taste the care that went into it. We had three amazing days at Eco Beach Retreat, with a great range of activities to enjoy. All the staff were lovely and made the atmosphere so good throughout our stay. Can't wait to come back!
