Burnett Riverside Hotel

We were very happy with our three-night stay in a King City Room and would gladly return. Booking directly through the hotel website was easy, and when traffic delayed us, one quick call sorted out alternative arrangements. Reception was still open when we arrived, and we were warmly welcomed and checked in without trouble. Our top-floor room was large and presented well. The lift made it easy to get between the room and basement car park. There’s a restaurant attached; we didn’t eat there, but had a few wines. The location is ideal, with an easy walk into town. I also walked to Hinkler Central shops, which was manageable, and River Cruz, Old Bundy Tavern and RSL are close by. Just a small suggestion for management: there was only one teaspoon and one face washer, but two of each would have been useful. I could have asked, but our visit had more pressing things going on.

Brilliant stay, and the RSL club is just a short walk down the road with a top feed. I also spotted locals hauling in a pot from the bank with several big bucks in it. If you’re keen on crabbing, bring a pot! Best of all, it had one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. Highly recommend for anyone travelling through the area.

I slept well knowing my car was secure in the garage below, and the early checkout before 7 am was easy with the key drop. The team and facilities at the Burnett Riverside made my Bundaberg stay comfortable and easy. I stay in branded loyalty hotels often, and this place didn’t feel cookie-cutter. Quay Street has prominent Queensland Country style architecture. Thanks for the Bundaberg memories. My room was large and had everything I needed, all very comfortable. Opening the door gave me a calm, relaxed feeling. I had an easy chat with Luke at check-in, and he seemed to have a sixth sense about guests. I had a lot of questions since the property was new to me. I also enjoyed talking with Ti / Tee, the housekeeper. At the H20 Bar, the staff explained the dinner options, then served me on the verandah overlooking the river. The passing water was relaxing. I had Sweet Potato Gnochi and Brown Butter Poached Pear Tart. Service was attentive and knowledgeable, and looking back at the menu, there were plenty of gluten-free options. Several groups arrived just as I finished.

The separate room we booked for a family member had no hot water in the shower. When I raised it, I was told the hotel was fully booked. The booking confirmation emails were extremely confusing, and staff agreed when I mentioned this on arrival. We had booked a river view king room advertised with a spa, but there wasn’t one in our room. When I asked, reception rudely said that not all riverside king rooms have spas. This hadn’t been made clear beforehand, and the website doesn’t mention that some rooms lack one. The cups were too small as well.
