The view of Burnie from our room was awesome, and the building felt homey. Mike knew heaps about Burnie and Tasmania. We might have talked for hours if we hadn't had plans the next morning. They were keen to share tips on sights, places to eat and things to do so we could enjoy as much of the trip as possible. My only small gripe is that you can only have snacks in the suite, while larger meals have to be eaten in a common area. Maybe that's just the introvert in me. Still, I'd be happy to stay again.

I keep coming back because it’s always a pleasure. The room is spacious, the bed is comfy, and it has everything I need.

The room and bathroom were clean and modern, and the balcony looked out to a fantastic view. Each morning I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and a chat with Mick, who knew the area well. The hosts were welcoming and accommodating, and I had a great stay at Oakleigh House. I’ll definitely return.

Our room was beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling bay windows looking across Burnie to the Strait. The period details were kept, but the decor still included all the comforts you’d want. The private shower room and powder room were cleverly placed, and the rain shower had a huge square head and plenty of space. The pillows stayed supportive instead of sinking into the mattress. The hosts were there whenever we needed them, without ever hovering. There’s a shared sunroom and balcony with tables and chairs, plus a large room with basic breakfast staples included in the already very reasonable room price. Check-in took a little longer than usual because the host takes security seriously, which felt reassuring given the stunning home. In all my years, I’ve paid more for much less. There aren’t enough superlatives for the stay. We only wish we’d had more time, so we’ll have to come back.

The view over Burnie from the room was amazing, and the desk made it easy to work there. It was an extremely clean, comfortable, high-end room at an affordable price, with lots of little extras I wasn’t expecting. The staff were very friendly and nothing seemed like a problem. I’ll stay again next time I’m in Burnie.
