The only decent part was that the bed was partly comfortable. We paid $160 a night and felt completely ripped off. The room was dated, grimy, and neglected, with a strong mix of cigarette smoke and damp, mouldy smell that made it hard to breathe. We had to leave the door open for ages to air it out. The shower curtain was covered in black mould spots, and the hallways smelled just as mouldy, as if a moisture problem throughout the building had been ignored. The air con barely worked, and the floor was as sticky as one in a pub after a big night when you've lost your thong. We left before reception was open, so we didn't pass this on. For $160 in Cairns, I'd expect clean air and basic hygiene. This place failed on every level, and there are much better options in town for the same money or less. I'd never stay here again.

The air conditioning is fixed at 24, with no way to turn it down. The rooms weren't cleaned properly: there was still soap in the bath and old soap filling the soap holder. We also found a dirty dishcloth under the sink and no clean ones.

The apartment was a good size, in a quiet location close to shops, and management was friendly. But it felt neglected, smelly, and dated. Housekeeping needs to do better, and the place badly needs a deep clean from ceiling to floor.

The pool is clean and relaxing, and the gardens are kept neat. We've stayed here during the tourist season for the past three years, and it's always been easy: handy location, secure parking, simple access, and staff who are really helpful.

There wasn't even a chair or table in the room, and the bathroom was moldy and dirty. When I asked about getting it cleaned, I was told it might not be mold and probably couldn't be cleaned, though housekeeping would come by. Nobody ever did. The worst room I've stayed in.
