Caravella Backpackers has been my favourite place to stay after travelling quite a bit along the East Coast. At $42 a night, it's very good value, and the atmosphere is what really makes it stand out. The other guests seemed a bit more mature, so it felt respectful and pleasant. Unlike a lot of hostels, people here don't party until 1 AM, and nights are quiet and peaceful. Late check-in went smoothly too. The location is hard to beat, with the Central Station (Greyhound bus stop) a 15 minute walk away and the Night Market seven minutes away. The Esplanade Lagoon, plenty of good cafes and restaurants, and a supermarket are close by. The hostel is well maintained, with two kitchens. The bathrooms and toilets were always clean, and I never had to queue or wait. There's a nice pool for relaxing, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I had a wonderful time and can highly recommend it if you're after somewhere clean, central and relaxed in Cairns.

The room had air conditioning, and they let us check out late. Muddy’s cafe was right nearby and we really enjoyed it. The place was clean, quiet and easy, with a fantastic spot right on the esplanade. It was a five minute walk to beach volleyball, the lagoon (public pool), the night markets and Cairns harbor. We'd stay here again!

My friend and I loved our stay in the female 6 bed dorm. The common areas were lovely, and the pool was a great bonus. It felt peaceful, surrounded by nature, and the location was fab. Everyone we met who worked or stayed at Caravella was kind, chatty and easy to approach. The rooms, bathrooms and kitchens were all cleaned thoroughly every day. It's a perfect base to come home to after busy days exploring Cairns and beyond.

The calm, welcoming feel at Carvellas Backpackers made it easy to settle in, whether for a short visit or a longer stay. I shared a private room with a toilet with my friend, and found the place comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and always ready to help. It seems suited to families, solo travellers and people of all ages. I’d happily recommend it.

The rooms were spacious, with air-conditioning and comfortable beds, and the quiet nights made it easy to rest. Caravela Backpackers is right on the main street, close to shops while still peaceful after dark. The owner and staff were kind and welcoming, and the place was clean and well looked after. I had a great stay and would come back.
