Elysium Private Apartments at The Beach Club

We understand the cyclone affected the resort, and chose to go ahead because we wanted to support the local community. Still, it felt as if the storm was being used to excuse poor management in other areas. We weren’t told clearly which facilities would be available before our visit, and better communication might have helped us choose differently. We’d hoped for a relaxing holiday at Peppers Palm Cove, but came away wishing we’d postponed or cancelled. Only the kids’ pool was open, so for two adults wanting to unwind, there was no good option. The Serenity Pool was closed because a pump needed replacing, and the other pool had been shut for renovations since November. That left us sharing the kids’ pool with children and loud adults drinking at the pool bar. Then on New Year’s Day, 01/01/24, drilling and renovation work in the apartment above woke us at 7:30 a.m. The owner wanted it ready for guests, despite everyone else having to put up with the noise. It’s illegal to do this on a public holiday. After we complained several times, they were told to finish by 11 a.m., though they shouldn’t have been allowed to continue at all. The drilling stopped by 11, but the selfish handyman kept renovating through the day and started again at 5:30 a.m. on 02/01. The property management staff were friendly, understanding and helpful, and offered a $50 per night refund, which we appreciated. I hope things improve at Peppers resort. Travellers should research which facilities are open and check whether renovation work is happening.
