We rented a two-bedroom apartment that was roomy enough for our family of five, and the rooms were clean. It’s a convenient location, with reasonable prices, great customer service and after-hours check-in. I highly recommend it to tourists heading to the Great Barrier Reef from Port Douglas marina.

My room was clean and well kept, and the bed was comfortable. The air conditioning worked well too. The marina is about a 15-20 minute walk away, and it’s an easy route. I arrived very early, but the front desk staff greeted me warmly and arranged secure storage for my bag in a locked room while I went out. I came back once the room was ready. I can’t fault the experience.

We left after about 20 minutes and found somewhere else to stay. The first room had at least one huge cockroach, and the replacement room we were offered was extremely dirty and far below expectations. We asked for a refund, but since we booked through Booking, they told us to contact them. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever seen. If you can, skip it unless you’re willing to share your room with cockroaches.

Free parking was a nice bonus, and it’s around a 15-minute walk to the esplanade. The rooms are dated and run down, though. For the price, it was fine as a place to sleep during my one-night stopover in Cairns. I’d only recommend it for that kind of short stay.

The only issue was mould on the shower and showerhead, and the showerhead was angled awkwardly. Otherwise, Room 203 was comfortable, the bed especially, and the staff were friendly. I stayed for two nights.
