Kewarra Beach House - Luxury Holiday House

We stayed in front bungalow #1, right by the beach, and the sound of the waves was beautiful. The bungalow is cleverly laid out, with furniture opposite the toilet wall for a bit more privacy. There’s a walk-in shower with two shower heads, including a “rainwater” feature, and a full bathtub with an ocean view. The bed was comfy. My one wish would be a ceiling fan outside on the patio. Marsha and Terry were amazing, with outstanding customer service. They were professional but still personal, and every other staff member we met, from the gardener to the late-night receptionist, gave 100% customer service. Kerrama Beach Resort really felt like paradise.

We had a birthday dinner at the fantastic restaurant. They set up a special table with welcome drinks, and the meals were delicious. Our cabin in the forest, right beside the beach, was clean and cozy, and a perfect base for exploring the surrounding areas. There’s a pool and the ocean at your doorstep, with friendly kangaroos hopping around in the lovely green, lush grounds. A perfect getaway.

The accommodation was clean and quiet at night, and the pool is beautiful. We saw gorgeous Cairns birdwing and Blue Ulysses butterflies, and there were thoughtful complimentary surprises waiting in the unit when we arrived. It’s in a prime spot with beach access, and the staff are super friendly and helpful.

We’d stay again in a heartbeat. The food was excellent: we had two dinners, including a chef’s tasting menu I shared with a friend. Every item was delicious, carefully prepared and presented, and often unusual, like smoked prawns under glass with a puff of smoke. The breakfast buffet had lots of variety and plenty to eat, and the coffee was great. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The bungalows are roomy, with natural wood interiors, good lighting, both a tub and a shower, and good A/C. There’s an understated pool, a boardwalk to the beach, and open-air reception and dining areas, all set in a quiet, beautiful jungle garden. It’s off the M1 north of Cairns, approached through a suburban neighbourhood beside a park and assisted-living facility, but once inside, suburbia feels far away. The beach was pretty, though we were there in January during peak marine stinger season, and runoff had made the water muddy. We didn’t swim in the netted area. Still, a wonderful stay.
