Seafarer Chase Holiday Apartments

The manager was friendly and informative, and neither of the little issues would stop me coming back. I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious two-bedroom top-floor apartment, with great views from the balcony and my own upper roof deck. The kitchen and laundry had everything needed, and there was a private lock-up garage with remote entry. There’s no reception for check-in or checkout, so I had to call when I arrived to find out how to get in, and call again at checkout for the on-site manager to meet me. I also couldn’t get the balcony sliding door to lock. Being on the top floor, that didn’t feel like a big deal.

It’s in a lovely spot, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. My unit 13 rooftop terrace was infested with lice, so the managers moved me to the lovely unit 14. They kept an expensive polo shirt and beach towel to wash and return, but by the end of my stay they still hadn’t cleaned them and said they’d post them. I paid for the room in cash and was told they had no change for my $20, which they promised to deposit into my bank account. Ten months later, I still haven’t got my shirt, towel, or money. I texted them and got no reply.

There were only small glimpses of the beach, and the parking underneath was so tiny, about the size of a postage stamp, that we ended up on the street. The rooms look nothing like the pictures online, and air con is only in selected top-floor units. The place felt like a dump from the 70s. There’s no reception, and we didn’t know how to get inside. No elevator either, so you have to lug everything up the stairs. When we arrived, a curtain was hanging off its rack, the glasses looked greasy, and we washed everything before using it. The toilet exhaust fan kept running, and a small fridge on top of a cupboard was full of mould. Very disappointed.

The location was good, near shops and local food. It felt more suited to people living in the units day to day than to hotel guests.
