Whitsundays Rainforest Retreat

I’m back home in NZ now, and I had a good stay. The setup seems great for group bookings. When I arrived, Peter was driving down the driveway and told me he’d upgraded me from a room to a whole house to myself. That was too much! A couple of things did bug me personally, and the wifi didn’t work. Peter suggested going up to the main building, and mentioned they were having trouble with their network provider.

Pete and Jules, the owners and hosts, along with the staff, were extremely friendly and courteous. The whole property is lovely, with sensational views from every room. The KING room is extra special and set up perfectly for a proposal 💍. One of the most hospitable experiences of my life. Can’t recommend it enough!

The common living spaces and the room were very clean, and there’s a barbecue plus a really nice kitchen with everything needed to cook. The crew were great too, and the view from the shared area was blooming excellent. The room was a little cramped, and the power outlets were hard to reach. The shower isn’t covered, so if you’re travelling with a friend or business mate, one of you has to wait outside while the other showers. That could cause awkwardness. For a couple it might be enjoyable, and I’d recommend the place more to couples than families. If you get a good price, go for it, but think twice about sharing a double room with a friend or work partner. If I were a couple, I’d stay here too 👍🏽😅

The owner, Peter, was so welcoming and genuinely wanted us to have a comfortable, memorable stay. After my girlfriend, now my ex, accidentally nearly set the place on fire and caused some expensive damage to the outdoor furniture and deck, he first checked that we were okay. I apologised profusely and offered to pay, but he politely declined, saying chairs can be replaced and people can’t. He never brought it up again, and helped us feel at ease so we could still enjoy the holiday. The rooms and views are spectacular, and there’s an indoor pool in the main lounge. The property is unique and a breath of fresh air compared with the usual hotels and accommodation. Staff are next level and would go to great lengths to help. There’s a reason it’s one of the highest-rated places in the Whitsundays. Do yourself a favour and call directly to ask for Peter. He’ll look after you like a personal friend.
