Mantra Albury Hotel

The hotel looks brand new, and the rooms were immaculate. We stayed one night between Sydney and Melbourne, making it an ideal place to stop over. Albury is a nice, quiet place. The fridge was very noisy during the night and kept cycling on for long periods.

The sky lounge on the top floor looked pretty good, with several TVs and a billiard table. It had a bit of a sports fanatic man-cave feel. Our room was clean and inviting, and the in-room facilities were good. The mini fridges are more like wine coolers, though, and don’t get as cold as a proper fridge. It was great to see the children’s play zone had been updated since our stay 12 months ago, with new toys and a padded soft area for little ones.

We paid $160 AUD including breakfast, which seemed fair for the quality. The hotel is on one of Albury’s busy main streets, and the building looks attractive outside. Inside, it was impressively clean, and our room was spotless and neatly arranged. We were welcomed warmly, and they gave us two vouchers for a welcome drink of our choice. There’s no private garage, but parking on the street or in the free area just behind the building was easy. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Albury.

The room was okay, but the view out the window was the worst I’ve ever seen. We also had a pram and had to carry it up a set of stairs on our floor each time we returned to the hotel. EV charging was very expensive at $0.68 cents pkw. We were told on arrival that we’d booked the wrong room because we had a small dog, but assigning the right room is the hotel’s job. We selected a pet-friendly room in our search criteria. While they tried to arrange a room, I checked the accor website, which still showed at least two pet-friendly rooms available, even though we were told none were left. Breakfast was advertised in the lift at $22.50, but apparently we had to tell reception the day before to get that rate. Otherwise, it cost $33. I can’t recommend this hotel.
