The beer was good and the setting was nice, but it was so cold that we left. The fire had only been lit about five minutes before we arrived, and I ended up wearing a beanie, scarf, hoodie and jacket. The pizzas looked small for their price. Everyone I saw was searching for a warm spot, and other people left too. The fire was lit and the bistro aircon was on, but it still wasn't warm enough. I think it could have been pleasant if the fire in the bistro and the one in the room beside the bar had been going for a few hours first. Summer might be a better time to visit for dinner. What a cracking place, and a smashing afternoon. The venue is stunning, the drinks are great, and I loved that they show respect for local distillers. Highly recommend the Remarkable, Pilsner, and Epic IPA. The pizzas looked superb too, though I was a bit sorry we'd already eaten lunch back at camp. Thanks, Dan and Paige!

We were there for two nights of mountain biking, and the service was great. It was lovely chatting with the friendly staff, especially Sophie, who told us stories about Melrose, the brewery, and the buildings. Gorgeous accommodation, tasty pizzas, and a great bar, all surrounded by historic buildings, a beautiful native garden, majestic gums, and spectacular views.

The Old Flour Mill has been brought back to life, and the interior was beautifully restored after a fire years ago. We enjoyed the friendly staff, delicious craft beers, and a Rose Sparking Wine that suited me just right. They also serve delicious wood fired pizza from 11am, and are open for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. The location is spectacular, with views over sheep in a paddock and Mt Remarkable. Very much worth a visit.

A wood fired pizza made a great match for the craft drinks on a Sunday arvo at Jacka Brothers Brewery in Melrose. We tried the gluten free artisan pizza, packed with flavour and probably one of the tastiest we've had. There isn't tap beer yet, but we bought four individual beers, about 185 ml each, to taste. The staff were great, it was relaxing, and the prices were reasonable.
