Avocado Motor Inn

We only needed a stop for the night, and the place is handy for the highway, as most spots in Childers are. Our plans changed at the last minute because of car trouble, and we arrived quite late. The team was really understanding and accommodating while we sorted things out the next day. Thanks so much for helping us out.

We had the family room with one double and two single beds, but there was no internet in our room for our devices or Netflix. It was in the second complex, farther from the router, despite internet being advertised. I asked if we could pay extra for two single rooms closer to the office, but was told the original room wouldn’t be refunded. It was still unused at that point.

The issue for me was the principle. I’d been quoted one tariff, but the bank statement showed a different price, and the receptionist didn’t seem to understand that was the point. She was as polite as she could be and called her boss, who told her to refund us. They did, but refused to return the eftpos fee. The booking was made several days ahead for one night, and no email address was taken to send confirmation. When we arrived, I was told everything was fine and it had already been paid, apparently earlier that day. I wasn’t offered a receipt.

We had a really restful night. The place was clean and comfortable, and close to the amenities. The host was friendly and pointed us in the right direction for where we needed to go.
