I spent a month travelling around West QLD, and this was the worst place I stayed. The lady at the desk was really rude and abrupt, and the place seemed to care only about miners in the cabins. The restaurant is apparently just for miners, so don’t ask if you can eat there. I went out for dinner, came back to shower, and the tap fell off in my hand. I tried another shower, but there was no hot water left. The ladies’ toilets were obviously blocked, most were full of poo, and the smell was horrendous. Many hadn’t been flushed. I spent my second night in Cloncurry down the road at the Oasis instead. It was much better, a beautiful park, in fact 5 stars.

The amenities need updating, and staff don’t seem to know how big the sites are. They tried to charge us for two sites because we had large vans, even though once we settled in there was plenty of room.

We stayed here in June and found grass areas covered in bindis, so it’s not good for pets. There were plenty of vacant spaces, yet they only managed to fit us into a camp spot. The person serving at reception was downright rude and made us feel unwelcome for not booking ahead. It seems dedicated to "workers", with Dongas everywhere, and the restaurant is for workers only, not travellers. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re after a pleasant camping stay and a meal at the restaurant. You won’t get that here.

You’ll need a car since it’s a little far from town. The cabins are decent for the price, with aircon, a desk, cupboards and a small ensuite bathroom. Mine was clean, with towels and shower gel provided. It can get a bit noisy when people talk outside your room, but I’d recommend it as a budget-friendly stay and would absolutely stay here again.

We had a lovely big grassed site, number 21, with nobody next to us. The free laundry was a nice touch, though the little clothesline behind it, down at the bottom end of the park, was very small. I hate using dryers because I think they shrink T-shirts, so we put out our own clothesline and dried everything in the Queensland sunshine. There’s only one ablution block, a little out of the way from our site. It’s old, but very clean. The park felt more geared toward workers in cabins than a typical caravan park. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming. Fine for a couple of nights.
