We really enjoyed sitting on the deck with a glass of wine and taking in the incredible view. The house is spacious, the kitchen makes self catering easy, and there’s a great range of books and games. A few things let it down. There was lots of dust under the beds and elsewhere, so a deeper clean would help. We arrived to only half a roll of toilet paper and had to call for more. There were six of us booked but just four towels. Since I’d already called about the paper, I didn’t want to be annoying, so we made do.

There’s a building site next door, an eyesore off to the side that could block that view in the future. The windows were very dirty with bird mess, which spoiled part of the outlook, and the house was quite dusty. It had clearly been cleaned before we arrived, though we think it must have been at least a few days earlier. We also found a broken kitchen drawer, an oven door that wouldn’t close fully, and a few other broken or damaged things. After booking, there was no communication at all, and no request for a review, which stood out compared with other self catering places we’ve booked this year around Tasmania and Australia. Freycinet Dream is in a great location, with lovely beach views, and was reasonably priced. The lounge and main bed were very comfortable, though we didn’t use the other beds. The WiFi was very good, and the spacious house and well equipped kitchen would suit a couple or family.

My partner and I had to cancel our three week Tasmania holiday because COVID meant we couldn’t cross the border. We received full refunds for all our other accommodation, as those hosts waived their cancellation fees as a courtesy, but Freycinet Dream didn’t. They were unresponsive for days, and when a reply finally came, it was brief and showed no empathy. We were really excited about the trip and devastated to cancel. I understand the impact COVID is having on tourism, but the government was encouraging travel within Australia, and experiences with unpleasant accommodation providers can discourage people. I’ll rebook our Tasmania stays when we’re able to travel, but I won’t book here again because of the appalling customer service. I don’t usually write reviews, but felt other customers should know in case they face something similar.

The place was spotless and well maintained, with a well equipped kitchen and stunning views. It’s close to Coles bay Main Street and just a short drive from Freycinet National Park. Absolutely beautiful, couldn’t recommend it more.
