The breakfast buffet was amazing, and the room was clean and comfortable. It’s such a peaceful, quiet place to stay, with horses, cats, dogs, chickens, and peacocks around. The host was very welcoming. I had a great time and would love to visit again.

It could be an amazing place with a cleaner and without someone turning off the aircon. I’d stayed here for work before, but never again. Lovely spot with a dog, horses, chickens, and a peacock, but the room wasn’t clean: dusty with cobwebs, gaps in the mozzie net doors, and sediment in the water bottle in the fridge that looked like it had been there a while. The bed was fine. It was a 38’C day. I went out for dinner, got back and switched on the aircon at 8pm, then read in bed. At 9:30 I heard someone downstairs, a click, and the aircon went off, followed by footsteps walking away. I wasn’t sure what had happened until I read previous reviews, then it seemed obvious they turn guests’ aircons off. I barely slept, hot and furious. I had to get up at 5am for a full day’s work, then drive back to Perth tired. Nearly $200 a night and I couldn’t run the aircon in a hot upstairs room. They saved maybe $5 on power, but they’ve lost $1000 a year from us.

We booked two nights at whispering pines b&b Collie, but the room we were given had live spiders, dust, dirt, mould, and spider webs all over the ceiling above the bed. It looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned for months. We stayed 10 minutes, then left and asked for a full refund. Thankfully, although we were three hours from home, we found clean accommodation in Collie. The proprietor has ignored our messages and calls since, keeping the $330 we paid through booking.com. Absolutely appalling room and zero customer service. Never again.

Our cabin was occupied when we arrived, but that got sorted out. After I asked about a door key and the internet, though, things took a turn. There was breakfast in the fridge, with bread, jam, cereals, and fruit juice, and lots of treats had been left for us. Still, I felt that money would have been better spent on cleaning. I understand jobs can get harder as we age. I did some cleaning during our stay and realised a few simple changes could make it a stay to remember for positive reasons.

Lovely place, accommodation, and service. It felt like staying at your grandma’s, with homemade brekky and everything thoughtfully taken care of.
