The rooms were neat and tidy, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Being right by the highway, I expected worse road noise, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought.

I asked reception where I could charge my EV, and they were happy for me to use a GPO. I plugged in at the power point above Unit 16 and trickle-charged at 2kw for 14 hrs overnight. Excellent, thanks.

The barking bloody dog was the one thing that got on my nerves. Once I’d fallen asleep, I didn’t care, but it did cost them a star. Otherwise, the room was clean and tidy, with a TV, microwave, fridge, tea and coffee. Staff were friendly, and although it’s on the main highway, traffic wasn’t all that busy. We stayed overnight.

We sat in the dark all night after the power went out, with no lights, electricity, hot water, coffee or toast. I couldn’t use my CPAP, see into our bags, make coffee or charge our phones. I know the outage itself was hardly their fault, but not seeing a single staff member to explain or apologise, or ask for help, was unforgivable. They stayed behind closed doors. We’d paid up front, and when we checked out the next day the power still wasn’t back on, and there were no staff then either.
