The location worked well for us. Mindil Beach Sunset Market is about a five-minute drive or a 20-minute walk away, and McDonald’s, KFC, and Guzman are within a three-minute drive. We stayed four nights in the Studio, 1 Queen Bed unit. There was plenty of room for two, with space to walk around and relax at the kitchen table or in the lounge chair. The shared balcony looks over the car park. Some things were a nice surprise: there was a fairly new washer and dryer in the bathroom, and a jar of ice water in the fridge was welcome in Darwin’s heat. The kitchen had what we needed for basic cooking. The apartment is dated, though, with stains here and there. The shower is small and the water pressure low, which was the main drawback. There were a few cleanliness and supply issues. One cup was stained, and the microwave and stools were dusty, so I wiped a stool before sitting down. One knife had rust on the edge, and another was so dented it looked like it had chopped a crocodile. We had soap, shampoo, and conditioner, but no tissues or hair dryer. Towels left lint on our clothes. Fresh ones were put on the table on day two, but some used towels were still there. Housekeeping was uneven too: they brought towels without us asking, but didn’t always empty the bins, and once only two of the three were cleared. The Wi-Fi stuttered with just two devices connected. The air conditioner leaked whenever we set it to 25 degrees or lower, so we put a bin underneath to catch the water. We told Dolly at reception when checking out at 8:30 am on 29 September. A decent stay for space and location, but the facilities and housekeeping need work.

The apartments are being occupied by a big group of young Irish guys who’ve been allowed to take over the pool, chanting and singing without considering the other guests. Nothing has been done about it. The rooms themselves are also a bit tired and could use a deep clean.

The location is great, within walking distance of the CBD and botanical gardens. Before check-in, the contact was very friendly and talked us through the after-hours arrival option, which worked out well. Our room and bathroom were basic but clean. We mentioned when booking that it was our honeymoon, so a little note or card would have been a nice acknowledgement.

After a notorious late-night Darwin flight landing, I stayed here for one night. It was easy enough to arrange a late check-in, though the lock boxes were old and a bit stiff. The room was dingy, very old, and run down, and I wouldn’t want to stay beyond the one night I needed. At $185 it was the cheapest option around and did the job, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have to. The staff were polite and helpful.

The pool and spa were lovely in the heat, and the bed was comfortable. There’s a mini kitchen, but the thin walls meant noise from the neighbours was a problem.
