We got stranded at 10:30 PM after an 18-hour drive from Airlee Beach in bad weather. Earlier that afternoon, we'd phoned the hotel manager to say when we'd arrive and check it was okay. She said it was fine and asked us to call when we got there. But no one answered the door, and our calls went straight to voicemail. She left no message or anything. After such a long, exhausting trip, that's a terrible way to treat guests. Thankfully, a local man helped us find somewhere else to stay. Without him, we'd have had to sleep in the car. Never go to this hotel. This was awful.

Peieta was so accommodating. Our little group of octogenarians had three wheelie-walkers, and she shuttled us when we needed a hand. She even picked up a companion from hospital first aid late one evening. The rail-bus stop is close by, and from CBH it's an easy walk to the spa. We travelled by rail and bus and stayed five days in a two-room place with an ensuite. The rooms were quiet and felt secure. We liked the storybook atmosphere, a bit of a surprise out here, though I know it may not suit everyone. It was too hot to spend much time in the back garden, but we enjoyed chatting on the verandah before dinner. The lamb rack at dinner was especially good, served buffet style, and I went back for seconds. The mash was lovely too, though I don't know whether it's the potatoes or how it's made. Salads were crisp. We were too late in the season for the dinner entertainment, and after the artesian spa it was an early night. Our king bed was comfortable, with quality bedding, soft towels, a cotton robe and slippers, and nice bathroom accessories. I didn't notice any body lotion. The ensuite was large, with a rain-style showerhead, high ceiling and fans. There wasn't noticeable air conditioning in the room. A jug and small fridge were provided, and you can ask for extras like a shower chair or ice. Looking back, I could have asked about a toaster to use safely in the glamping area. Netflix worked and wifi was available.

Pietà made sure everything ran smoothly, and Chris Callaghan's live music was a lovely way to finish the evening. We enjoyed learning about the hotel's history and thought the outdoor area was beautifully done. The food was outstanding: steak, lasagna, barramundi and pork belly were all delicious. We had an amazing stay at Club Boutique Hotel Cunnamulla. Highly recommend!

I booked two days but stayed just one night, and no one told me about a 72-hour cancellation fee. Then I was charged $442.00. The room wasn't worth the price, and the restaurant was untidy. The staff seemed untrained, and the place was ultra untidy. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere. A big zero from me. Clean the establishment or fold. Pathetic.
