Lunch at Cygnet Old Bank today was a real disappointment. My ham and cheese croissant was cold inside, with melted cheese spilling out at the edges and firm cheese in the middle. My husband ordered the bank bean dish, which came with small bowls of salsa, mashed avocado, and something meant to be beans, plus jalapeno and corn chips. The dish was cold, and the cheese and cream on top had gone hard, almost like plastic, so it was impossible to eat. When I asked whether it was meant to be hot or cold, the waitress said it depended on the chef, then said she liked it cold but her husband liked it hot. We left the bean dish uneaten. At payment she offered to remove the iced chocolate from the bill, not the inedible meal. Poor attitude and a very disappointing lunch.

We had crêpes with ginger sorbet and enjoyed lunch with a live harpist playing nearby. The café has a good range for morning tea and lunch, plus plenty of seating both indoors and out.

Right in the middle of town, with lovely walking paths nearby, this accommodation is in a beautiful historic building. The rooms are lovely, the bathroom and shower are great, and there's easy access and all the modern conveniences.

The staff were lovely and very willing to help, and breakfast downstairs in the restaurant was tasty and substantial, with a separate menu for in-house guests. The rooms are small, with the bed as the only place to sit, and just one room has an en suite. The other private bathrooms are across the hall, though close by, which might not suit everyone. It's a beautiful old building in central Cygnet, but think twice if stairs are difficult for you. After-hours entry in particular means using a steep outside metal staircase.

We keep loving Friday dinner at Cygnet Old Bank. Last week chef Yogi made us the Vegetarian Bibimbap, and it was honestly the best thing we've had there. The Daisy Bowl is great too, but this dish was perfect. I'd love to see the Vegetarian Bibimbap added to the regular menu.
