Mud Crab Motel

The bathroom had dried vomit on the basin and mold all over the shower ceiling. There wasn’t even a proper light in my room, just a camp light in the corner. Loud drunk people on both sides kept me up all night, and during my work week I reckon I slept a maximum of 10 hrs. There were arguments at the motel entrance and 3 pitbulls that barked every time you walked past. Not inviting at all. If you’re going to Derby, I suggest never staying here.

The owner of the King Sound Resort kindly found us somewhere to stay at the last minute. The motel had taken an online booking, but when I arrived, they said there was no room. A week later they charged me for a stay I never got because of their own incompetence. I tried calling and emailing to get my money back, but no one even had the courtesy to reply.

The room stank of bleach when I arrived, and this place is a joke. The car park isn’t secure, the gate is lying in the parking area, and on many afternoons I came back to people arguing or making a racket there. The banging and yelling went on well into the night, often until 2 am. If you don’t like sleep or safety, stay here. Otherwise, don’t. It’s not worth the money, and even the advertised photos don’t match what you get. No fridge or micro wave, and another room had a camping light because its ceiling light didn’t work, plus no tv. Never stay here.

Brook is sweet, honestly, but this place is awful. My room had bed bugs, the facilities were poor, and it was grubby. The Spinifex nearby isn’t the Ritz, but by comparison it is. Don’t stay here unless they renovate or rebuild.
