The location was perfect, the view spectacular, and the staff friendly during our two nights at Norfolks. Six of us stayed across two apartments. There was a lot of beach construction work, which would have been good to know about beforehand. The rooms were very rough around the edges and needed a deep clean. They felt dated, and the main living area had no aircon, only the two bedrooms had split systems, so the days got very sticky. A very dirty fan was provided, but it didn’t work. The beds were okay, though the two singles we ended up with were cheap and not very comfortable. Pots and pans were cheap and heavily used. There were no condiments apart from empty salt and pepper grinders, no shower soap, and the toilet roll holder had broken off the wall. Typical QLD plastic toilet seats and shower screens, too.

We love Norfolks and have been holidaying there for over 20 years. When our kids were little, it suited us perfectly, with a pool right at the door and the park and beach across the road. There’s a small supermarket and bakery within an easy walk, and regular buses stop at the door. Now the kids are adults, we still all go together. These days we head across the road for coffee and cocktails instead of lollies and ice creams. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby.

I had a pleasant stay in Apartment #13 and would happily return. It was spacious and in a location I loved. The reception ladies were lovely, and I’d recommend it to friends. Some areas could use modernising, like the shower heads and tapware, and the place could do with a deep clean.

We weren't told about the renovations until an email arrived the day before we got there. Being woken at 7am by tradies ripping up tiles wasn't great. The apartment had plenty of space, but it needed a proper clean. Dust was visible around the TV cabinet and coffee table, and the glass kitchen table was smudged and dirty. There were no baking trays for the oven.

The location and views were great, and the living areas felt open and lovely. The rooms are a little small, though on the coast you should be out swimming and adventuring anyway. I have dust allergies, so the dusty bedroom fly screens and a few dusty throws in the lounge that needed washing stood out. Still, those weren't deal breakers.
