The food’s proper pub comfort food, with generous portions and consistently good quality. The Traditional Parmys, steak and “Queenslander” burger are all great. There’s always something going on too, from Music Bingo to live music and themed events during the week, so it’s a fun, organised night out with friends. The Commercial Hotel feels like a home away from home in Nambour, and the atmosphere is lively as soon as you walk in. The team are friendly and attentive, and they really care about guests. Haseeb deserves a special mention. He’s professional, welcoming, attentive to detail, and goes above and beyond to make people feel like VIPs. Easily the best employee there.

I came for Saturday lunch and liked it enough to return the next day. The 12:00pm to 2:30pm lunch specials include a 200g rump steak for $19.90, which was outstanding value. Mine was cooked perfectly, with spot on chips and fresh, well balanced salad. Faultless. The Commercial Hotel has been done up and now feels fresh, modern and welcoming, with a great atmosphere. Staff were pleasant, friendly and attentive. They’ve given the place a lovely new feel. I’d recommend it for lunch or a casual meal, and I’ll be back.

The room was tidy and bigger than I expected, and the cab merlot was lovely. The Bangers and mash let me down, though. The menu promised thick sausages and onion gravy, but the sausages were thin, overcooked and really dry, and there was no onion in the gravy. The Maggi gravy was nice and thick, at least. They need to pay more attention to the details. Mecca’s across the road delivers what it promises.

The dining area was family friendly, and we really enjoyed the meals. I used the Commercial Hotel Nambour as my base for a great time on the Sunshine Coast. Our room was spacious, clean and freshly renovated, with a new TV connected to Sky Racing. My Thai wife was very pleased with the accommodation and is planning to bring her parents for a visit next year.

I brought my kids here and didn’t feel safe because of the drug use. After two beers, I was told to leave on a Friday night, apparently because I was drunk after having a beer with dinner. It felt like staff showed disgusting favouritism, letting locals behave like animals while turning away people who aren’t local after 10. I can’t remember the name of the security guard who dealt with me.
