Yandina Hotel

Since Star Liquor took over, the atmosphere has really gone downhill. This used to be a friendly, relaxed local pub, but it feels much less inviting now. After more than a decade of coming here, I’m disappointed to see a community staple lose the feel that made it special. Long-time patrons have noticed the change, and the staff seem unhappy under the new management. It’s sad, since the team used to bring so much warmth. Not being able to get bottled water as a patron is one of the most frustrating parts. In Queensland’s heat, that’s a basic expectation and a reasonable request. It reflects poorly on management that they can’t provide it. I hope they listen to feedback and make changes, because right now it doesn’t feel like the place it used to be.

Wednesday Parmy Night used to be something we could count on and enjoy. We went every week for 10 plus years, but on our recent visit there were only three parmys to choose from. Calamari, T-bone, and wings were also unavailable, and we were told the regular weekly specials had been removed altogether. Since Star Liquor took over Yandina Hotel, standards have clearly dropped. Prices have gone up dramatically while quality, consistency, and the experience have declined. The pub's atmosphere has changed too: security walking around and the move away from its relaxed, country-style feel have taken away what made it a local favourite. It's frustrating as long-time patrons who supported the hotel for years, and disappointing to see a local gem lose its identity. Management should reconsider this direction and bring back the quality, value, and welcome people expect. I'd give it less than one star if I could.

The zucchini wedges were a surprise favourite at lunch. They were golden and really crunchy outside, soft and creamy inside. My husband and I would choose them over regular chips any day, so I recommend giving them a try. My husband had the lamb shank schnitty and I went for the traditional parmi. The portions were huge, and my chicken was thick, juicy, and lovely. I was well beaten. For a hearty feed, Yandina Pub is the place.

Even with a few chefs away, all the meals arrived around the same time. One person in our group got an undercooked steak, but it was fixed quickly and without any fuss. We were there on a busy Friday night (23/1), and the staff stayed calm, friendly, and helpful to our group, who weren't from the area.
