Dinner Plain Mt Hotham Accommodation

We loved our stay and had no complaints. The rooms were nice, the public bar felt inviting, and the staff were super friendly. We ate at the hotel and the food was outstanding. The barman was friendly too, and the wine was good.

We kept coming back for dinner, three nights in a row, even though we weren’t staying here. The food was outstanding, and there was a great selection of gluten-free options. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. David was so friendly and worked incredibly hard, and Lukas is a fantastic chef.

We only ate at the restaurant. Ordering was through a QR code, and there was a 10% Sunday surcharge, which is fair enough. The chicken schnitzel was very salty, but okay. Definitely skip the vegetarian nachos. At $28, they were a cup of beans in red sauce, a tablespoon of sour cream and a handful of chips so crushed I thought they were cornflakes. No cheese or vegetables, literally the worst nachos I’ve had. The kitchen should be ashamed. Avoid.

Our grandchild who finished dinner even ordered ice cream, while the other fell asleep before getting through the nuggets and chips. They gave us a takeaway container without any fuss. We were a family group of six, and our host had the fire going when we arrived, a nice touch. Meals were ordered and paid for by QR code, with drinks from the bar. I had the chicken Parma with chips, tomato sauce and a tasty, well-dressed salad with tender strips of capsicum. I tried, but couldn’t finish it. The Shiraz Sangiovese blend was pretty good too. Well worth a visit. Well done, folks.
