We were grateful for the welcome hamper, and the beach is only a short walk away. The cottage was clean and clearly gets regular upkeep. The kitchen had everything we needed, and both the sofa and bed were very comfortable. There’s a BBQ too, though we didn’t use it.

We had a great time here as a family. The cabins are cosy and well equipped, tucked into a private bush setting with direct beach access, and they’re pet friendly. John and Annette were wonderful hosts. Sandpiper ocean cottages is a real hidden gem, and we’d highly recommend a stay.

The welcome basket has everything you need for a quiet, restful break, though you can keep as busy as you like. There’s a private beach just minutes away, and Bicheno’s penguin tour and other sights are about 10 minutes off. If you’re after a secluded retreat with a 60s beach feel, this place fits.

We were only here for two nights, but the cottages were wonderful. The kids had plenty to do, and especially liked wandering around to look at the wood carvings of famous Tasmanians. The welcome hamper was much appreciated. I’d happily recommend the place.

We paid $350 for one night and were disappointed that there was no breakfast hamper. The website said one was supplied, and when I noticed it was missing at the beach house and asked about it, I was told they don’t provide one for a one-night stay. There wasn’t even milk for coffee. That didn’t match what the website said, and felt poor value compared with the similar places we stayed at on this trip.
