The farm was such a peaceful place to slow down, and a great base for seeing southeast Tasmania. Gary made everything easy, from booking us a dinner table to getting the outdoor fire ready so we could sit under the stars. He even lent us gumboots to walk around the property. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and beautifully put together. Gary was a wonderful host, and we’d happily recommend staying here.

The firepit, green views and nearby river really made this place stand out. We even spotted a platypus on a short walk around the property. Our room was clean and pleasant, with its own bathroom, and Gary was a lovely, experienced host. He also made a good English breakfast. A great bed and breakfast.

Ashdownes felt like a cosy home away from home, with a beautiful setting and a flock of Dorset's adding to the charm. Gary shared plenty of remarkable travel and adventure stories, and gave us excellent information that helped us make the most of our stay. The rooms were warm and comfortable, and breakfast was excellent. Thanks for having us, Gary.

The location is great, with shops nearby and attractions easy to get to. Gary looked after us really well, and the big brekkie is a treat. If you're staying near Dover, Ashdowns is easily my top pick. Gary, I'll be back.
