The staff were rude and seemed not to care, and the room reeked of cigarettes, which was surprising even to me as a smoker. The kettle was broken, there was no Wi-Fi or microwave, and the bathroom looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in decades. The sheets were stained, the pillowcases had cigarette burns, and I suspect there may have been bed bugs too. My boyfriend and I have spent the past 18 months travelling and staying in hotels across Canada,Greenland,United kingdom,France,Germany,Spain,Italy,Thailand,Japan,Darwin,Perth,Sydney,Melbourne. This was easily one of the worst places we've encountered. We had booked and paid for three nights but checked out after just one, knowing we wouldn't get a refund from them. We contacted our bank back home and got the charge refunded to our credit card. We then found absolutely fabulous accommodation in the city centre. Pay extra for somewhere decent in Echuca and keep well away from this budget slum.

The new owners have done a great job. The place was extremely clean, with fresh towels and linen, and the staff were amazing, friendly and very hospitable. The location is good and the rates are very affordable. Thanks for fitting us in at the last minute :)

We booked two weeks ahead, but they took the payment from my bank five days before we arrived. During our three-night stay, the room wasn't cleaned, so we had to ask for fresh towels. I also asked for the Wi-Fi password, only to find they turned the Wi-Fi off at 9 pm. I'm never staying there again.

For a reasonable price, this is a great place to stay. The rooms are a little outdated, but they have the basic facilities you'd want at home, including laundry facilities and a swimming pool for guests.
