Edenhope Motor inn

The family-sized pizza was delicious, and the care from the person who welcomed us really stood out. She was attentive and checked that we were doing okay, which I especially appreciated with a hungry young child. My husband and I had booked at the last minute, and with the low price we’d expected just the basics. Her kindness is what earned this place five stars from us.

We’re visiting from NZ for a wedding, and the accommodation shortage left us having to settle here, which is the only reason I gave the location any credit. The rubbish was piled up and smelled putrid. When I asked whether it would be collected, I got a feeble answer blaming council service. From what I could tell, the Motor Inn probably doesn’t want to pay for that service. There seemed to be no effort put into presentation or hospitality. It’s tragic. Please don’t stay here. If you’re visiting, check Airbnb or even the cabins at the lake. This place should be shut down.

The only positive I could find was the low price. The rooms were dated, dirty, and badly equipped, and even the bedspread was dirty. We had to ask for a replacement. We were only there overnight and couldn’t wait to leave the next morning. I’d avoid the place unless you’re desperate.

We paid $151.00 for a room that was far too expensive for what we got. The TV didn’t work, there was no teaspoon for coffee and sugar, and there was no microwave or toaster despite those being advertised. The room was dirty, and the bed had only sheets; the woolen blankets were in the wardrobe, so we had to make the beds ourselves. There were three of us in the family, but just one small shampoo, conditioner, and body wash to share. Only two towels and cups were provided, so we had to ask for another of each. The curtain rod was held up with duct tape, and the tap was wobbly. We asked for an electric blanket, but it looked like it was from the 1970s and hadn’t been tested since 2021. I was too scared to use it in case it caught fire.
