Hospitality Esperance, SureStay Collection by Best Western

The location and lovely staff earn it 2.5 stars from me, but we wouldn't choose to stay again. There are a park right across the street, the beach beyond it, and a beautiful view from the dining room. Our beds were incredibly uncomfortable, and there was black mould behind the bathroom sink. The shower kept swinging from hot to very cold. A gap of around 2-3cm under the outside door let in cigarette smoke, spiders and cold air. Our room had blinds but no curtains, and they did little to block the glaring outdoor lights. Breakfast was disappointing too, just basic cereal, toast, canned fruit, cold ham, cheese and drinks.

I paid a hefty price, but the room and support were far below what I expected. There were visible hairs on the pillows and bed, and the room hadn't been cleaned to an acceptable standard. It was full of flies, including mosquitoes, food flies and house flies, and I spent the whole night trying to keep them away, which badly affected my rest and comfort. When I told reception, they only advised me to use mosquito repellent. Nobody came to inspect or clean the room. This level of hygiene and service wasn't what I paid for.

The rooms are older in style, but spotlessly clean, and the beds are comfortable. What really brings me back is the friendly service and lovely food. Both evening meals were fresh and delivered to my room. Simon, the front desk manager, was amazing when I had to return to Esperance for an unexpected hospital visit. He was so helpful with my room and very accommodating. I hope management knows what a great job he does. Thanks very much!

Very clean, with comfy beds and friendly, helpful staff. It's close to shops and places to eat, and the free continental breakfast was a bonus. Highly recommend.
