Elk at Falls

The room was neat, tidy and just right for a few days in the snow. There’s a drying room, and Halley's Comet lift is a five minute walk away. The bar and restaurant are lovely, with great food and the best coffee on the mountain. We travel a lot, and Jake and his team communicated better than anywhere else we've stayed. Well done ELK on making last weekend such a great stay. We'll definitely return for our next Falls Creek holiday.

A great place for a weekend getaway in Falls. It's central, the rooms are great, and Jake and the team were really friendly and helpful.

After many years travelling to Falls Creek and staying in different apartments and lodges, I think I've finally found our home away from home at Elk. The apartments are modern, clean and comfortable, and the facilities are excellent. The staff are friendly without being in your face, and the location is perfect. Bob Sugar downstairs is a great spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and then you can head to the cosy bar. Owner Leanne showed us around and introduced us to Elk. Manager Jake is a brilliant host. We stayed a couple of times during '22 season and can't wait to be back in '23.

We had trouble with hotel manager Jake as soon as we arrived. We'd let the accommodation transfer centre at Falls Creek know our arrival time well ahead, but then waited a very long time. When Jake finally showed up, he rudely said he was ready to pick us up when we were, and didn't take care of our gear while we loaded it onto the buggy. Our snowboard and ski bag fell off the tray, and we had to chase after them before he noticed. The helmet was banged up, and the board and bindings were damaged. We take good care of our own gear and aren't seasoned skiers or boarders using rentals, hence the DB journey bag, if you know you know. When we checked in, the room wasn't ready. Cleaners were rushing around, and we were put in what felt like the worst room, in the basement across from the staircase above. It was small, mouldy and not enough space even for a family of three or four. We'd booked months ahead and paid more than the usual rates, so expected better. A very discouraging start to a long-awaited holiday, and it felt like a rip-off.
