We were given a Red balloon voucher for two nights at Quarters at Flinders Hotel, but the stay was thoroughly disappointing and we won’t be back. Before we arrived, reception confirmed our check-in time and asked for a $200 surcharge because we were booking for a Saturday. We paid it promptly, even though the Red balloon voucher didn’t mention any surcharge. Then on Sunday we got a call saying the booking was only for one night and that we had to check out. We were shocked. My husband had been told early check-in wasn’t possible when he asked, yet it seemed other guests had earlier check-in times. As seasoned travellers, we’ve never come across practices like this, including the surcharge. The property manager’s manner was unprofessional, and the whole thing ruined our long weekend. We want the $200 refunded, or we’ll take further action.

Amy, our friendly waitress, was excellent and looked after all our needs. Jerome and his team did a fantastic job with the food. Looking forward to coming back for dinner soon.

A lovely place to unwind after the city. We had crisp bed linen and spotless rooms and facilities, with birds chirping outside and a warm welcome at Reception. It’s easy to walk to restaurants, ice cream, boutiques, the beach, pier and golf course, with a stunning coastline nearby. Sleepy nights and happy days here.

The room was comfortable and clean, with a TV, mini bar, fridge, desk and armchair, and the bathroom was clean too, though there was no bath. The building looks modern and fairly new. I wouldn’t rate it 4.5 star, but it was a nice, relaxing stay. I was there midweek and it was very quiet. The little outdoor area was concrete and tiled, with a small table and two chairs that I think were plastic. It looked out over the street and had a bit of greenery, but wasn’t a very nice space. I stay in a lot of hotels, and I’d give this one a 3, maybe 3.5 max.

The mattress was so hard that we couldn’t face another sleepless night, so although we’d booked two nights, we left after one. The town, the accommodation’s position and the way the room was presented were all excellent. That bed spoiled our stay.
