Sevan Apartments

The apartments are spacious and clean, with good parking, and the staff are always helpful. It’s a great setup for our eight year old twins: beach time, an afternoon swim, then a walk into town for dinner and dolphin watching. This was our fifth family holiday here and our third stay at Sevan. We absolutely love it.

We made good use of the welcome package, which included flowers and a few surprises in the room for my wife for our 33rd anniversary. The location was ideal, so we walked everywhere. A great weekend, and we’ll go back sometime.

The location is the main draw. It’s a short walk to the main beach and the main street for food and shopping, the view is great, and the no party policy suits families. The shared community space is pleasant, and the BBQ facilities are very good. The pool isn’t heated, though, which was a big disappointment. Calling these “serviced apartments” is misleading since they aren’t serviced daily. My family and in-laws paid $800 a night for Penthouse 1. These apartments are privately owned, and the upkeep was disappointing. The clocks didn’t work or had dead batteries. The washing machine, dishwasher and dryer were dirty and mouldy, which I found completely unacceptable. When we shifted furniture to make room for our toddler and baby to crawl, there were dead bugs, dust and food underneath that looked like it had been there for months, possibly years. The upstairs area also seemed not to have been cleaned in a long time. For what we paid, three stars is generous, probably closer to two. The owner needs to take a hard look at the upkeep. I’d be embarrassed if I were them. Sevan staff should also hold cleaning to a higher standard, especially in the premium penthouse units.

We’ve been bringing our young family to Forster for 15 years and tried a range of units, but Sevan has been our favourite for the past six years, now with our children and grandchildren. We come back every year for the September/October school holidays and rent three or four units. My husband and I also visit in winter. The staff are lovely, the rooms are excellent, and the beach and shops are so convenient.
